Creosote buildup in flue
Why it happens here
Southwood's cold winters mean residents burn wood frequently, leading to creosote accumulation. Older chimneys may have rough flue liners that trap creosote. This is a leading cause of chimney fires.
Our approach
We use chimney brushes and rods to remove creosote from the flue. For heavy buildup, we may use a creosote sweeping log or chemical treatments. We also advise on burning dry wood to reduce future buildup.
