Heavy creosote buildup from daily winter fires
Why it happens here
Independence Square winters are long and cold, so many homeowners burn fires daily from November through March. Burning unseasoned wood or running the damper too low accelerates creosote formation. Homes built in the 1960s and 1970s often have flues that are slightly undersized, which makes it worse.
Our approach
We measure creosote thickness and remove it with the right tools, from wire brushes to rotary Sooteaters. If we find glaze, we use CSIA-approved chemical treatments. We also give you burning tips to slow future buildup.
