Creosote buildup in wood burning flues
Why it happens here
Cold winters in Independence mean wood stoves and fireplaces run constantly from November through March. Constant burning at lower temperatures produces more creosote than hot, fast fires. If the flue is not cleaned regularly, the creosote can reach dangerous levels.
Our approach
We clean the flue with chimney brushes and a Sooteater rotary system. For heavy glaze creosote, we use a chemical treatment first. We also measure creosote thickness with an inspection camera so you know exactly what was in the flue.
